Telling Stories
Olive has recently started to tell original stories of her own invention. This afternoon, we got two.
Once upon a time, there was a girl and a bad man. The bad man took the girl to McDonald's. Then he left her there! She got really scared.
Then, her mama said: "You go get the girl right now! Do not leave her at McDonald's!" And the bad man had to come back. Then, he got the girl and brought her home. They lived happily ever after.
Obviously, Christina and I both praised her for telling such a good story. She liked it, and immediately responded that she had another story to tell us.
Ummmm...
Once upon a time, there was a girl and a man. He wasn't a bad man this time. The man took the girl to McDonald's, but he didn't leave her there.
"And then what happened?"
Then a T-Rex came! But he was a nice T-Rex. He did not want to eat the girl and the man. He wanted to eat McDonald's!
Personally, despite its intense flavor of non-sequiter, I kind of love the notion of a Tyrannosaurus waiting patiently in line at the drive-through, bellowing its order into the tinny speaker, grabbing the take-out bag with its little hands before wandering politely off.
