Solid Food
Christina was giving me a Look the other day at breakfast. On prodding:
"I just had a really weird dream. I'd read--in the deam--that babies Pumpkin's age needed lots of protein, but we couldn't find the right meat-rich baby foods in the store, so you started feeding him cat food. You kept saying, 'Look how much he likes it!'"
I want to clarify that I have not and will not feed my baby cat food. That said, the overall structure of Christina's dream is extremely plausible; he's trying out new kinds of food regularly, and by and large he's loving them. As an example, today he had some thin, un-seasoned slices of a fried egg for breakfast, and he loved them. He wasn't particularly good at eating them; that would be a bit much for a child currently sitting at a count of 1.5 teeth, both lower incisors.
One heartwarming thing these days is seeing how much he and Olive love to interact with each other. She's silly to him, making goofy baby sounds and performing physical humor. He, in turn, loves it, and both grins and shrieks in delight. Their relationship is unlikely to retain this precise dynamic as they both get older, but I hope that however it evolves, it stays so consistently positive.
